Pure Aqua Columbus

About Pure Aqua Columbus

Local. Veteran-Owned. Built on Honest Water Advice.

We're not a franchise or a national chain. We're a Columbus family business — and we've been testing and treating Central Ohio water since 2018.

How Pure Aqua Columbus started

Pure Aqua Columbus was founded in 2018 by a U.S. military veteran who saw a gap in the Central Ohio market: homeowners were being sold expensive systems by high-pressure national chains without ever getting an honest explanation of what was actually in their water.

We built this company on a different model. Every recommendation starts with a free in-home water test. We explain the results in plain English, discuss options that fit the home and the budget, and only install what the water actually needs.

Today we serve 28+ communities across Franklin, Delaware, Licking, Fairfield, Union, and Pickaway counties. Every technician on our team is a Central Ohio resident. We live here, drink the same water, and take water quality personally.

Central Ohio water — what we know

Columbus city water hardness

Columbus Water Works delivers water measuring 15–18 grains per gallon (gpg) hardness — among the harder municipal supplies in Ohio. This causes scale buildup on appliances, fixtures, and water heaters.

Suburban and well-water hardness

Suburban communities and private wells in Central Ohio typically measure 15–20 gpg. Rural well water can reach 18–28 gpg depending on the aquifer and local geology.

Chloramines in Columbus water

Columbus Water Works uses chloramines — a chlorine-ammonia blend — as a disinfectant. Chloramines are effective for water safety but produce a noticeable chemical smell and taste that whole-house carbon filtration eliminates.

Iron in Central Ohio well water

Private wells in Delaware, Licking, Fairfield, and Pickaway counties frequently show elevated iron levels. Iron causes orange staining on fixtures, laundry, and appliances, and can produce a rotten-egg odor when combined with sulfur bacteria.
