Well water in Central Ohio is typically harder (20–28 gpg vs. 15–18 gpg for city water), higher in iron, and may contain bacteria, nitrates, or sulfur that city water does not.
How often should I test my well water?
The EPA recommends testing well water annually for bacteria (coliform) and nitrates, and every 3–5 years for a full panel including hardness, iron, pH, and other parameters. If you notice a change in taste, odor, or color, test immediately.
