1846 – George Westinghouse born in Central Bridge, New York
1865 – Westinghouse patents the rotary steam engine
1881 – Westinghouse perfects life-saving railroad block signal

1886-1893

1886 – First commercial AC power generating station lights up Great Barrington, Massachusetts
1886 – George Westinghouse founds the Westinghouse Electric Company
1893 – 25,000 Westinghouse electric lights illuminate the Chicago World’s Fair
